CAD jobs are usually well paid. That s because CAD operators produce As fitted drawings which show installation work done for a customer, which in turn justifies an invoice and payment. There s a natural wish to retain key workers such as skilled CAD operators.
It s not easy to get a job interview
Employers can be faced with 000 s of CV s for a CAD job vacancy.
Most CV s will mention a CAD training certificate of some kind.
How do employers view CAD training certificates?
Not favourably, so some will ask for a CAD skills test during a job interview
That s because many will job applicants say I can do CAD , when they haven t used CAD software recently.CAD software is far more complex than Word or Excel for example, So much will be forgotten if CAD software has not been used for a while.
Those taken on however, will face a training course during their probationary period of employment.
An employer will expect to see positive feedback from the course and hit the ground running on the employees return to work.
It won t be easy to face the complexity of an employer s CAD work, after a basic topics based training course attendance, with just the typical 30 days of email support.
How do employers view job candidates with current CAD skills?
Current CAD skills help a CV to stand out from the crowd.
There may be backlog of urgent CAD drawings, holding up invoice payments.
There could be a saving of the cost of a CAD course.
How do you get current CAD skills?
Everyone learns at different speeds so some may be left behind on a well attended public course.
it s important to practice basic CAD skills to improve retention. An aspect which is sometimes lacking in the pressure of topics based CAD courses.
It can make sense to spread your learning over a period of time, so that revision and practice will improve retention.
